A school in the north of England is launching a motoring GCSE to help young people prepare for taking to the roads in the future.
Solway Community Technology College in Silloth is offering year ten pupils a course in motor vehicle and road user studies, the Cumberland news reports.
Teacher Bernie Green said: The course includes an investigation of a traffic issue in the county or their local area such as speeding, jumping red or amber lights or using a mobile while driving.
Such activities can result in higher car insurance premiums for those who are caught and convicted.
Mr Green went on to say that the course also features a practical riding test during which pupils are required to demonstrate safe and competent handling of a moped to help them prepare for the roads in later life.
In related news, the Driving Standards Agency recently extended the consultation launched into possible changes to the process for learning to drive.
People now have until October 6th to participate in the consultation.
